This week, we see another contrast: the sons of Eli and the sons of Hannah. Eli's sons were the appointed priests for God's people, but they had no regard for the Lord. Samuel, on the other hand, ministered before the Lord and grew in God's presence. This contrast highlights some characteristics of pride and humility. It again encourages us to embrace and apply the foundational truth that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.
